I think the comparison between Israel and apartheid South Africa should be enough incentive for any conscionable student with one iota of regard for humanity to question what Israel does to warrant such a comparison. A comparison that countless respective individuals have made including Desmond Tutu.

I would think someone like yourself who is so fixated on the disruption of schools, would put just as much effort into the disruption of basic human rights and the disruption of international law. How can you put aside your position on Israel who has been oppressing, colonizing, dehumanizing, and ethnically cleansing the Palestinian people for over 60 years. DISRUPTION OF AN ENTIRE PEOPLE.

I think it would behoove you to check out the conference, maybe then you could write articles that actually quote facts and not tweets.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03153479912535115138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269161508663498728.post-84015550298434369682009-09-30T22:33:49.934-04:002009-09-30T22:33:49.934-04:00Pittsburgh good, Pittsburgh capitalist, therefore ...Pittsburgh good, Pittsburgh capitalist, therefore capitalism good. Derderder

What about business murdering labor organizers, what about the state supporting the murder of labor organizers, what about slave-like conditions of workers? The period of unrestrained capitalism was a stain on the history of Pittsburgh, and the fact that you can say it was a good period is mind-boggling.

Everyone needs to work because everyone needs to live.

Yes, you're right, the poor should starve, because they're filthy and stupid. What distorts the market is that schools are promoting these unpaid internships and making them part of the curriculum in many disciplines.

Students should instead be taught that their skills and time have a monetary value on an open market.Giles Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15377631166763043417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269161508663498728.post-33938494431164013162009-09-27T20:32:12.729-04:002009-09-27T20:32:12.729-04:00I hope you don't stand by this position. Gain does not simply have to be monetary; in fact, monetary gain really isn't the final gain. Money is simply a means to achieve a real benefit--i.e. a new iPod. Similarly, the education and experience you receive in an internship is an intermediate gain.

The pricing mechanism also works here: student who value the internship the most will take it; students who would rather accept paid internships will take the paid internships.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269161508663498728.post-25676916902052255622009-09-21T22:35:20.842-04:002009-09-21T22:35:20.842-04:00Thank you for noticing this type of complete disre...Thank you for noticing this type of complete disregard for reality!
